‘All My Children’ Reboot: Kelly Ripa Shares Update & Bold Confession

All About Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' 3 Children

Kelly Ripa recently shared an update on the All My Children reboot, along with a bold confession.

Kelly Rip and Mark Consuelos in 'All My Children'

On the November 25 episode of the Soapy podcast, Ripa revealed where the reboot currently stands after she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, announced in 2020 that it was in the works.

For the sit-down with hosts, All My Children alum Rebecca Budig and Days of Our Lives star Greg Rikaart, the Live With Kelly and Mark star admitted that the beloved soap opera hit many roadblocks along the way.

“We’ve been working on it for so long,” Ripa said. “It’s really out of our hands. It’s in other people’s hands.”

“It’s funny, it’s like one of those things where you get something off the ground and then, oh, there’s corporate structuring, there’s new management,” she continued. “And then the project falls down, and then there’s like renewed interest, and then, oh, the person championing this was let go, and you’re like, ‘Oh, no.’”

“So it’s like one of these things that has never gone away,” Ripa added.

When Budig asked why she had an interest in doing the reboot in the first place, Ripa replied, “Because we love soaps. I think it’s the greatest thing for actors to have.”

Additionally, Ripa said her time on All My Children positively molded her as an actor.

“I found that I’m a better employee in every aspect of my life because I worked on a soap opera,” she shared. “Because a soap opera gave me a foundation of how to act if you want longevity in this business.”

Ripa added, “It’s not rocket science. Be on time. Be courteous. Thank people. Be appreciative. Be neat. Be disciplined. Having said that, I was still a terrible actor, but I tried.”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' Love Story Is Something to Talk About

In 1995, Ripa (who played Hayley Vaughan) met Consuelos (who played Mateo Santos) on the set of All My Children. He played her on-screen love interest, which ultimately spilled over into real life. They married in May 1996, less than a year after meeting, and share three adult kids, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.

All My Children ran for 41 seasons from 1970 to 2011, with a revival web series airing for one season in 2013.
