Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shared the real reason they may not gave their adult kids Christmas presents on Live With Kelly and Mark Nov. 20.

Watch: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Debate Not Giving Their Kids Christmas Presents

Looks like Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ kids may not be getting a visit from Santa this year.

The couple—who are parents to Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22—recently debated whether they would get their three kids Christmas gifts during the upcoming holiday season.

“Kids are old now,” Mark said during the Nov. 20 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. “I’m not getting them anything.”

However, Kelly, 55, was taken aback at the admission, asking her husband, “You’re not getting them anything?”

In response, the Riverdale alum initially stood his ground with his wife of 29 years.

“They get money,” Mark added. “Give them like a check or something and say, ‘Merry Christmas!’ ”

But after some thought, Kelly’s reservations seemed to stop the 54-year-old in his tracks.

“I don’t know. That sounds bad,” he told Kelly. “That sounds really bad.”

This isn’t the first time that the TV host couple have gotten candid about their family in front of cameras. Five months after their adult children officially moved out of the house, the empty nesters opened up about the NSFW ways they take advantage of their newly vacant digs.

“The first one is a bit of a shock,” Kelly explained during their show’s May 26 episode. “The second one is no big deal. Third one, for 24 to 48 hours, you’re gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh, what have we done? Now it’s just us.’ And then, your entire life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want.”

But even though their kids are all grown up, they’ll never be too old for a check in from mom and dad.

“I sent my kids, after they graduated, all of these articles on like, ‘The best things people look for when hiring,’” the actress continued. “And I’m like, ‘Did you read that article?’ Nobody read it. Nobody reads anything.”

While the couple may live separately from their kids now, they will always cherish the days when the whole family was together in their New York home. In the duo’s home tour with Architectural Digest last December, the couple opened up about the special art piece dedicated to Michael, Lola and Joaquin: three realistic paintings of their eyes located right near Kelly and Mark’s bedroom.

“They don’t live here anymore, so when we leave our bedroom, it feels like they’re still with us,” Mark said, to which Kelly added, “I could stare at my kids’ eyes forever, I just think they’re great.”

Big Men on Campus

“Looks like @instasuelos just found out he won’t be @joaquinconsuelos roommate in the fall,” Kelly teased during a trip to Ann Arbor before Joaquin started at University of Michigan.

Kelly took a few days off in March 2022 to watch the Wolverines compete in the Division 1 Wrestling Championships in Detroit.

Still a freshman, Joaquin didn’t wrestle this time, but still, Kelly said on Live upon her return, “It took years off my life watching these young men.”

Generational Health

The whole family finally made it to Greece and Italy in June 2021 after the pandemic had other plans in 2020.

“Last year’s graduation trip for our oldest son and niece was delayed long enough to become a graduation trip for the family newborns as well,” Kelly shared.

Kelly and Mark’s eldest child, son Michael Consuelos, 24 at the time, posted this sweet throwback photo of him and his mom on her 51st birthday in 2021, writing, “Happy Birthday, Mom!! I hope you have the greatest day ever. You’re a badass and an inspiration to everyone. Also, when I call you a T. Rex, I mean it as a compliment. You should know that by now.”

History Repeating

In August 2020, Kelly Ripa shared an epic recreation of an old family photo from 2003 on Instagram. With youngest son Joaquin on her lap and older kids Michael and Lola perfectly in place, we’d say they nailed it despite the fact that, as Kelly noted, “objects may appear larger.”

In May 2020, Kelly and Mark celebrated eldest son Michael’s graduation—albeit a virtual one, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic—from New York University. Marking the occasion, Kelly wrote on Instagram, “And just like that you graduated college. MJC, the joy and pride you have brought our family is indescribable. I love you with all my heart.”
