Jennifer Aniston reveals her “relaxing” weight loss journey and how she stays happy despite her weight loss woes

Hollywood icon Jennifer Aniston has always been admired for her effortless beauty, timeless style, and radiant presence — but behind the camera flashes and red-carpet smiles, the Friends star says her relationship with body image has been anything but effortless.

In a candid new interview with Wellness & You magazine, Aniston, 56, opened up about her recent “relaxing” weight loss journey, revealing the mindset shift that helped her balance fitness goals with emotional well-being — and how she stays genuinely happy, even when things get tough.

“I don’t chase numbers anymore,” Aniston said. “For me, this journey has been more about letting go than trying harder.”

The Emmy-winning actress admitted that in the past, her fitness routines and diet plans felt more like pressure than empowerment. “I was constantly worried about staying a certain size or fitting a certain image,” she said. “But over time, that just stops feeling healthy — emotionally and physically.”

Now, she’s adopted a more mindful and forgiving approach, which she calls her “relaxing reset.” Her new routine is built around daily walks, light yoga, intuitive eating, and laughter — lots of it.

Why (like Jennifer Aniston) being single might make you happier

“I stopped punishing my body and started listening to it. Some days I move a lot. Other days, I just breathe and stretch. Both are enough.”

Aniston also credits her happiness to surrounding herself with positive, supportive people — and limiting her exposure to what she calls “the noise of comparison culture.”

“The hardest part about losing weight as a public figure isn’t the scale — it’s the commentary,” she admitted. “You lose five pounds and suddenly it’s, ‘Is she sick?’ You gain three and it’s, ‘Is she pregnant?’ It’s exhausting. So I stopped reading it.”

Despite her open approach, Aniston acknowledges there have been “weight loss woes” along the way. Plateaus, hormone shifts, and self-doubt have all made appearances in her journey — especially as she’s navigated her 50s.

“There were days I felt like nothing was changing. Like my body was stuck. And I’d get frustrated. But instead of pushing harder, I learned to pause, breathe, and ask myself, ‘Am I being kind to me today?’ That became my real measure of success.”

She also credits simple pleasures — like her morning matcha, homemade veggie bowls, and curling up with a good book — for keeping her grounded.

The actress’s fresh outlook has resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have praised her vulnerability and honesty. Social media lit up after excerpts of the interview were shared, with one fan writing, “Jennifer Aniston just redefined what real self-care looks like.”

Jennifer Aniston says growing up in an 'unsafe' household shaped her character

Aniston’s new mantra? Progress, not pressure. And it’s one she hopes other women can embrace, especially as they grow older.

“Aging is not a punishment, and weight is not a moral scorecard,” she said. “I feel more peaceful in my skin now than I did in my 30s. That’s not because of the weight I’ve lost — it’s because of the pressure I’ve released.”

While Aniston hasn’t ruled out returning to the screen soon — with rumored projects in the works — she says her current focus is simple: health, joy, and staying curious.

“We only get one body, one mind. I’m finally learning to be on the same team as both.”

Fans will be able to read Jennifer’s full interview in the July issue of Wellness & You, out next week — and if there’s one thing her journey proves, it’s that weight loss doesn’t have to be a war — sometimes, it can be a walk
