Andrea Bocelli Shares the Key to a Contented Marriage: The Renowned Tenor and His Wife Say the Secret Is in the Bedroom

Although Andrea Bocelli has a well-known voice, not much is known about his real wife. As he appeared on the Big Show with Michael McIntyre.

Celine Dion once said that “if God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli”. And tenor Andrea Bocelli – who lost his sight at the age of 12 – used his talent when he sang to Veronica Berti the night they met.

Now, more than twelve years later she is his wife and manager.

Speaking of the first time he laid his eyes on the brunette beauty, he said: “I have always been lucky in life and I have always had love throughout it.

“Veronica and I met at a party 12 years ago, and I was struck by her voice and how her skin felt.

“I sang my first aria for her that night. It was a piece called Occhi Di Fata (Fairy’s Eyes). Everybody was there; it was a really wonderful moment between us.

“It was the quickest, speediest start, because we moved in with each other that same night. Effectively the marriage began when we met.”

She was just 18 when the two met, and admits she was meant to be at another party that night.

With an exam coming up, she said she tried to leave by Andrea begged her to stay.

He told her: “Stay. Don’t lose the energy. Don’t lose the moment. Love is something you don’t think about.”

So she did. And on March 21, 2014, the legendary Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli married his long-term partner and manager.

The enviably stylish ceremony was held in Tuscany, at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero in the port of Livorno, Italy.

The nuptials took place on the second birthday of the couple’s baby daughter Virginia.

Andrea, 55, looked dapper in a three-piece silk suit while Veronica looked elegant in a silk Ermanno Scervino gown.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in Andrea’s villa in Forte dei Marmi near Pisa.

So what is his secret?

“My theory is chemistry. If there’s chemistry between two people, then there is poetry, there is harmony, there is mutual understanding — there is love; if not, nothing,”

“If the bedroom door opens the world to something beautiful and interesting, then love will last. If the bedroom door opens onto something that’s boring or uninteresting, it won’t last.

“I think happiness can be dangerous, so I opt more for serenity.

“So for me, serenity, or my form of happiness, is a lit fireplace, a glass of wine, a good friend to talk to… and my wife waiting for me in the bedroom!”
