André Rieu Launches Emergency Fundraiser to Aid Texas Flood Victims

MAASTRICHT – World-renowned violinist and conductor André Rieu has announced plans for a special benefit concert in response to the devastating floods currently affecting thousands across Texas. The Dutch maestro, deeply moved by the images of destruction and hardship, shared the news via his official Facebook page, calling for “solidarity and compassion in a time of immense human need.”
“I still remember the pain and fear in Maastricht during the 1995 floods,” Rieu wrote. “Watching what’s happening in Texas brought all those memories back. It’s time we come together — across oceans — to help those who have lost everything.”
Currently on tour in Germany, Rieu is said to be coordinating with his team and American organizers to stage a fundraising concert, potentially in Dallas or Houston, depending on venue and logistical availability. According to his son, Pierre Rieu, they are actively seeking a relief organization to partner with, and negotiations are underway with U.S. broadcast networks to air the event nationally.
“We’re aiming for a February date,” Pierre said. “The idea is to turn music into direct action — and raise as much as we can for families displaced and devastated by this historic flood.”
Texas has been reeling from record-breaking rainfall and flash floods since early January. Entire communities have been submerged, with tens of thousands evacuated and over 100,000 households left without power. Emergency services continue to work around the clock as further storms are forecast.

Meanwhile, Rieu’s post has gone viral, amassing over 30,000 reactions and tens of thousands of shares within hours. Fans from around the world have applauded the gesture and pledged to support the effort.
As one commenter wrote:
“Maestro Rieu has always brought us joy through music. Now he’s bringing hope.”
