Ohanian praised his wife for being an “even greater mom” than an athlete

Alexis Ohanian knows better than to face off against the GOAT.

The 42-year-old Reddit co-founder and entrepreneur appeared on the 3rd Hour of Today on Monday, July 21, where he was asked about his wife Serena Williams’ recent ab-tastic workout pics.

When NBC correspondent Laura Jarrett asked, “I imagine you do not like to go to the gym with her. If I was married to Serena Williams, I would not stand next to her.”

Ohanian laughed off the comment, saying, “Obviously, she’s a phenomenal athlete. Luckily, she doesn’t focus too much on the strength training work, so I’ve still got a couple of core disciplines and what not. But no, it’s definitely not a competition in terms of athleticism.”

Earlier this month, Williams shared a series of workout selfies in a black sports bra and matching leggings, highlighting her impressive abs.

“Working out and working on my angles,” she captioned the photos at the time.

However, Ohanian remains more proud of the tennis champ’s accomplishments outside of the gym and off the court.

“Look, I love it,” he said. “And I think one of the things that’s really so commendable is — y’all don’t get to see — as amazing as she is as an athlete, you know, greatest of all time, she’s an even greater mom to our daughters Olympia and Adira.”

Ohanian, who shares Olympia, 6, and Adira, 1, with the Wimbledon champ, said that Williams considers being a mom to be the thing that gives her the most joy.

“She’s an amazing mother on top of an amazing business woman and sports icon,” he noted. “And that’s something that I think few people understand. She’s reached the top of the mountain top, the highest of heights, things that most of us, I think on any other day would trade so much for. And yet, after being up there, the thing that gives her so much joy is the simple things, you know, family, that I think every one of us has an option, an opportunity. So don’t squander that.”

In November the couple celebrated seven years of marriage with a fun family costume party.

“7 years has gone so fast… Happy anniversary @alexisohanian thank you for being the best dad to our girls @olympiaohanian and @adiraohanian,” Williams wrote on Instagram at the time. “Thanks for also making average November day a costume party and making it special. ❤️❣️”
