Startling claims about a member of the British royal family have resurfaced.

A British royal, Princess Michael of Kent, who came under scrutiny for donning a brooch with a caricature of a Black man’s face during a 2017 luncheon for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is once again facing ire for reportedly naming a pet black sheep after tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams.

According to Us Weekly, Aatish Taseer, who dated Lady Gabriella of Windsor, the daughter of Princess Michael of Kent, addressed this allegation on the Monday, July 14, episode of the podcast, “Tell Me About Your Father”.

Author Aatish Taseer repeats claims that Princess Michael had two pet black sheep named Venus and Serena.

Taseer first shared the story about Princess Michael of Kent, now 80, in Vanity Fair in a May 2018 essay entitled  “Palace & Prejudice”, addressing what Meghan Markle’s entry into the House of Windsor meant in the era of Brexit. Ultimately, Meghan Markle was subjected to racist treatment such that she moved her family out of the UK.

“I think the [story about] Venus and Serena was part of that weird air of abstraction that exists around these people and how they’re not even aware of how shocking or offensive that might be,” Taseer, shared on the podcast, reports Us Weekly.

Although these types of racist incidents usually go unchecked, Yahoo News reports that Princess Michael of Kent was forced to apologize for wearing that colonial era badge with a caricature of a Black person to the Buckingham Palace lunch with Meghan Markle.
