Patrick Mahomes is looking forward to sharing the field with Travis Kelce again this season.

During a Kansas City Chiefs press conference on Thursday, May 29, reporters asked Mahomes, 29, if he believes the upcoming NFL season will be his longtime teammate’s last. However, the quarterback said Kelce, 35, is just as motivated in his training as ever.

A few months after Kelce squashed retirement rumors and confirmed he’ll return to Kansas City this season, Mahomes, 29, told reporters, “The way he’s talking about football, the way he’s talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year… he doesn’t seem like a guy that it’s his last ride, like he’s tired of the job.”

“He’s in there. He’s working,” Mahomes added, sharing that he knows Kelce’s “body feels good” as he continues training in Florida this offseason. “I think it feels better than even last year, before going into last season. I think he’s motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last.”

Mahomes and Kelce will be hard at work on the field this fall when the NFL season kicks off. In the meantime, the Kansas City icons are getting closer to opening their steakhouse 1587 Prime.

On Tuesday, the official Kelce brothers Instagram account shared photos of the aesthetics and construction site of the new spot.

“First look at Travis Kelce & Patrick Mahomes’ new steakhouse, 1587 Prime — opening soon inside the Loews Hotel!” the social media carousel was captioned. A zoomed in photo showing a collection of brown footballs with “1587 Prime by Noble 33” stamped in gold was the cover image.

While talking about his partnership with Kelce in a video shared by Fox 4 Kansas City, Mahomes said, “Me and Travis have been working on that for awhile. We’re always together. We’re always at these restaurants, and we have a love for bringing people together.”

He added, “We’re going to do whatever we can to continue to bring people together and what better place than Kansas City.”

And Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, recently showed her support for Mahomes by donating a signed guitar to his 15 and Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic gala on May 15 in Las Vegas.
