It’s not too often to see NFL players at the same position share an alma mater. With NFL rosters limited to only 53 individuals when the regular season hits, right now in training camp tends to be the best chance to see former college stars connect. This week, Ole Miss fans got to see a special connection between two tight ends who played in Oxford seven years apart from each other.

The Denver Broncos acquired former Rebels Evan Engram and Caden Prieskorn to address one of the worst tight end rooms in the NFL. On Wednesday, the two shared a special moment during Broncos training camp where Engram was showing the rookie the ropes during stretches and drills.

Engram left an indelible mark as the program’s all-time leader in receptions (162), receiving yards (2,320), and touchdown catches (15) by a tight end. Joining Ole Miss in 2013, Engram became a key offensive weapon, showcasing exceptional athleticism and reliable hands.

His breakout came in 2014, with 38 receptions for 662 yards, earning All-SEC honors. By 2016, his senior year, he recorded 65 catches for 926 yards and eight touchdowns, earning first-team All-American honors. Engram’s versatility stretched defenses, making him a matchup nightmare.

His performance led to his selection as the 23rd overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2017 NFL Draft, cementing his legacy at Ole Miss.

Prieskorn, transferring to Ole Miss in 2023 after three seasons at Memphis, brought size (6’6”, 255 lbs) and versatility to the Rebels’ tight end position. Initially a high school quarterback, he transitioned to tight end, excelling in both blocking and receiving.

In 2023, despite a foot injury, Prieskorn recorded 30 receptions for 449 yards and four touchdowns, with a standout performance in the Peach Bowl, earning Offensive MVP honors with 10 catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns. In 2024, he added 27 receptions for 401 yards and three touchdowns, earning All-SEC Honorable Mention.

Prieskorn’s journey culminated in signing with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2025, joining fellow Rebel Evan Engram.
