The beloved game show host has opened up about a rule on the popular show which involves ‘fake meat’.

Drew Carey has been spilling some dirt about behind-the-scenes set secrets on The Price is Right as the show celebrates its milestone 10,000th episode–including a weird on-set policy.

The show often sees host Drew making brutal jokes at times, but also celebrating big moments. Among the big moments is the 10,000th episode, which saw the show have some “Plans up its sleeves” and a “life-changing” cash prize.

However, it also allowed the 66-year-old to talk more about the show in the lead-up to the special episode. This prompted him recalling one of the show’s weirdest on-set policies.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Drew shared that the show does have a specific policy when it comes to something viewers may not think of; meat. He admitted that when he took over in 2007, there was a “no meat” policy on set, but that has since shifted.

“Now we have fake meat,” he shared. Drew also explained that the policy stemmed from previous host Bob Barker’s stances on animal rights.

“[Barker] really walked the walk,” he said. “People don’t know, I was telling [a Jimmy Kimmel Live!] producer, before I was the host, The Price is Right was a vegan show.

“Like, they had no meat products. They had no leather goods [as prizes].” He admitted the policy also went as far as to the props shown on grills being given away as prizes on the show.

“They never had plastic meat,” he said. “They wouldn’t even show fake meat.

“It would just be all vegetables, asparagus and stuff!” The Price is Right airs weekdays on CBS.
