Fox News viewers have been left furious over Donald Trump’s latest claims about investments, as they accused the president of spewing lies “out of his moth-eaten brain.”
As he arrived in South Korea, which is the third stop on Trump’s Asia tour that will culminate in a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, the Republican politician headed to the coastal city of Gyeongju for remarks at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. There, the president addressed several key aspects of his trip and said he hopes for a “grand deal” between Washington and Beijing.
He also lauded bilateral ties between the US and South Korea, describing South Korean President Lee Jae Myung as “a terrific person.” Trump said, “The Republic of Korea is a cherished American friend and a close ally, and as we can see in this beautiful city, it’s truly one of the most remarkable nations anywhere on Earth.”
He also mentioned his alleged successes in securing foreign investments in the US, as he boasted that there have already been $17 trillion in investments in eight months. He said, “In less than one year, we’ve secured commitments for over $18 trillion of new investments.

“As an example, the previous administration, in four years, they did less than a trillion, I think much less actually. [They] hurt our country very badly, who would’ve known?” Trump then said he believes that amount will reach $20 [trillion] or $21 trillion by the end of his first year back in the White House.
“I figure that we’ll probably be at $20 or $21 [trillion], maybe even $22 trillion of investments coming into our country by the end of the first year of my second term.” Trump has been previously criticized for sharing figures that have not been officially confirmed.
After a video of Trump’s comments was shared online, a Fox News viewer tweeted, “This utterly insane, delusional lie continues to get dumber every time it spews out of his moth eaten brain. Incredible.” Another said, “He thinks we will forget this lie in a few months time …. And he’s right …. He will have said another 12,000 insane crazy lies since then. It is impossible to keep up. Every day … more bizarre lies… every single damn day …”
A third wrote, “Same boasting, whining speech everywhere he goes. The rest of the world is humouring him because no sane world leader does this.” One more wrote, “An hour-long speech bragging how great he is. Pure Trump. #TrumpisaNationalDisgrace.”

The US and South Korea advanced trade talks on Wednesday, addressing details of $350 billion that would be invested in the American economy, after negotiations and ceremonies that included the presentation of a gold medal and crown to Trump. Both were gifts from the country’s president, who dialed up the flattery while Washington and Seoul worked to nail down financial promises during Trump’s trip.
Although both sides said progress has been made – Trump said things were “pretty much finalized” – no agreement has been signed yet. The framework includes gradual investments, cooperation on shipbuilding and the lowering of Trump’s tariffs on South Korea’s automobile exports, according to Kim Yong-beom, Lee’s chief of staff for policy.
