Brian Fitzpatrick Proposes to Jacqui Heinrich in Lavender-Field Sunrise—A “Fairy Tale” Moment

Jacqui Heinrich, Fox News senior White House correspondent, is engaged to Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, following a romantic proposal that took place on June 29, 2025, in a lavender field in Valensole, Provence, France. Heinrich, 36, said “yes” to 51-year-old Fitzpatrick after four years together.

Fitzpatrick planned the trip as a birthday gift, fulfilling a long-held dream of Heinrich’s to visit the French Riviera, to “eat the baguettes, see the lavender fields, drink the wine and eat the butter,” she told People. Despite looming obligations in Congress — specifically, the vote on a bill known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill” — Fitzpatrick insisted the trip proceed as planned. Heinrich joked that she thought something more significant might be in store when he said, “We are going. We’re going to the lavender fields. All I want is to see the lavender fields at sunrise.”

The proposal itself was carefully orchestrated. The couple left Nice at about 1:30 a.m. and drove over two hours through the night to reach the lavender field before dawn. When Heinrich walked out into the field (initially under the pretense of Heinrich letting Fitzpatrick take photos), a photographer appeared and a drone hovered to capture the moment. Fitzpatrick presented her with a brilliant-cut round diamond solitaire ring in a six-prong platinum setting with a yellow gold band, chosen from Heinrich’s family jeweler in Portland, Maine.

Heinrich described the setting as “breathtaking,” saying “the smell was just so fragrant. It’s a memory that will be seared into my brain for life. It’s hard to even put into words just how gorgeous it really was. It felt like a fairy tale.”

Before asking her father’s permission, Fitzpatrick flew to New Hampshire to ask for his blessing. Heinrich said her father “teared up on the phone,” and that Fitzpatrick’s parents, who are in their 90s, were “so overjoyed.”

Heinrich emphasized what she most admires in Fitzpatrick: “He’s sweet and gentle and kind — all of the easy qualities in a person that just make him a joy to be around and life brighter.” She added, “I love his brain. I love the way he approaches problem-solving and solving complex issues. He’s strong and a man of faith, who brings me closer to God.”

Brian Fitzpatrick has been serving as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 1st District since 2017. Before his congressional service he was an FBI special agent and a federal prosecutor, involved in work on public corruption, election crimes, and counterterrorism. Heinrich joined Fox News in 2018, later becoming its White House correspondent.

When Heinrich and Fitzpatrick went on their first date at the Kennedy Center Honors in December 2021, they quickly realized the show was just the backdrop. Fitzpatrick kept leaning over with quiet jokes and comments that had Heinrich laughing so much nearby guests turned to smile at them. Afterward, they strolled the marble halls long past the curtain call, then sat talking in his car for hours, reluctant to part. Heinrich later admitted that night felt less like a first date and more like the start of something lasting.

They plan a large Catholic wedding ceremony. Meanwhile, the couple will host a housewarming and engagement party in their new home.
